Media Synergy Case Studies

 1. Valorant x ZEDD

Valorant is a first person shooter created by Riot Games based off of the hit game Counter Strike, but including many different characters & character lore as well as the concept of an ability system that hasn't been seen in Counter Strike. 

ZEDD is an EDM (electronic dance music) artist who had his first hit in 2013 with the title track "Clarity" which reached into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 at number eight and earned a Grammy for Best Dance Recording at the 56th Grammy Awards.

Valorant and ZEDD partnered in September of 2021 to create skins for different guns and a knife that included tracks made by ZEDD to promote his music when you inspect the weapon. 

Benefits for Valorant:

- EDM fans may get into valorant to enjoy a game that includes music from a recognised artist
- Sales in gun skins, as one skin on average costs $10

2. Wizarding World of Harry Potter x Universal Studios

Harry Potter is a best selling novel, movie series and story about magic and wizardry hidden within the real world, based in the united kingdom. The characters and the setting of this story are very descriptive pulls people in, allowing people to immerse themselves into the story.

Universal Pictures is a movie distributor that is widely popular in a lot of western media, which is also known for creating theme parks under the child company Universal Studios, available in Hollywood, Orlando, Japan, Singapore and Beijing. 

Harry Potter and Universal Studios worked together to create The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, a Harry Potter themed amusement park where you get to be physically immersed into the movie director's and JK Rowling's vision of places described in the story, as well as meeting some characters portrayed by actors, and props that may be of interest to fans such as wands and wizardy snacks.

Benefits for Harry Potter:
- Allow existing fans to continue enjoying the story by being able to immerse themselves even more (after sales service)
- Sell Merchandise at a markup for the exclusivity
- Get theme park lovers into the story, resulting in sales of books and more watches on the movies.
